Hey readers,

Today, we’ve got some news about the news.

We’re merging the Education Agenda into our daily publications — the Arizona Agenda and the Tucson Agenda.

If you’re not already reading those publications and want to sign up, here are the links

That means you’ll see more dedicated education coverage in the daily newsletters, including deeper coverage of the 2026 election and its impact on Arizona’s education system.

  • Statewide education stories — the Legislature, the superintendent's race, state budget fights that hit schools — will show up in the Arizona Agenda.

  • Southern Arizona angles, including local school board coverage, will run in the Tucson Agenda.

Jessica Votipka, our Tucson-based education reporter who has been covering this beat for a long time, will stay busy writing for both publications. (Catch her in today’s Tucson Agenda!)

By pulling our dedicated education reporter into the daily publications, we’ll have time to go deeper into the election season — and bring that education focus to a larger audience.

We’re doing this because we’re taking on the biggest civic project in the Agenda's history. We're partnering with the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission to redesign and moderate their entire 2026 legislative debate program. New format, wider distribution, more candidates, more voters. (ICYMI: You can read the announcement here.)

It’s a big deal for the Agenda publications, but it’s gonna require some extra bandwidth.

We started the Education Agenda to make sure education issues didn't get overlooked. After fifteen months on this beat, we know the players, the storylines and what's at stake.

Now, we’re bringing it into the main show.
